Noindex tag
A noindex tag is an instruction in a page's HTML (or HTTP header) telling search engines not to show that page in their results.
Pages that usually get noindex
- Thank-you and confirmation pages.
- Admin, account and internal search pages.
- Ad landing pages built for paid traffic.
- Drafts and thin pages not ready to rank.
Noindex vs nofollow
Noindex keeps the page itself out of results. Nofollow tells search engines not to follow the links on the page. They can be used together or separately.
Frequently asked questions
