Links and authority

Domain authority

Also called DA, Domain rating, DR

Domain authority is a score from SEO tools, such as Moz's DA or Ahrefs' DR, that estimates how strong a website's backlink profile is. It's a third-party estimate, not a Google metric.

How to use it

Use it to compare sites and judge how hard a keyword will be, or how valuable a link would be. Don't treat it as a goal in itself: Google doesn't use these scores, and rankings depend on the page, not just the domain.

How to grow it

  • Earn links from relevant, trusted sites.
  • Publish content worth referencing.
  • Keep building steadily; scores move slowly.

Frequently asked questions

  • No. It's a metric from SEO tools that estimates authority from links.

  • Yes, for specific, long-tail searches where the content answers the question best.
