Core Web Vitals
Also called CWV, LCP, INP, CLS
Core Web Vitals are Google's three measures of real-user page experience: Largest Contentful Paint (loading), Interaction to Next Paint (responsiveness) and Cumulative Layout Shift (visual stability).
The three metrics
- LCP: how quickly the main content appears. Good is 2.5 seconds or less.
- INP: how quickly the page responds to clicks and taps. Good is 200 milliseconds or less.
- CLS: how much the layout jumps while loading. Good is 0.1 or less.
Common fixes on SaaS sites
- Compress and correctly size hero images.
- Load third-party scripts, such as chat and analytics, after the page.
- Reserve space for images and embeds so content doesn't jump.
- Reduce heavy JavaScript on marketing pages.
